On August 24, 2009, Palace Hotel Co., Ltd. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Takashi Kobayashi) held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new hotel/office complex to be built at 1-1-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. With the aim of rebuilding the Palace Hotel and its annex office building on the same site, the hotel has temporarily ceased operation since the end of January this year, followed by demolition works of the two buildings. Full scale construction work of the new complex will commence from this day forth, and the construction work is scheduled to be completed in January, 2012.

The construction site of “1-1-1 Marunouchi” is situated in an area of traffic convenience; 8 minutes’ walk from JR Tokyo Station, immediate access from Otemachi Station where 5 subway lines run through, and at the intersection of two of the Tokyo’s main highways, “Eitai-dori” and “Uchibori- dori.”

The new complex will have 23 stories aboveground and 4 stories underground with a total floor area of 140,000m2. The office building will occupy approximately 68,000m2 and the hotel will occupy approximately 53,000m2 of the total floor area. The two buildings of the complex will have soft toned exterior which will harmonize with the surrounding environment blessed with deep greenery, and sufficient space will be secured for planting on the premise. Several measures will be taken to lower the burden on environment such as greening of the rooftop against heat island phenomenon, control of electricity and gas usage, and rainwater usage for CO2 reduction.

The 3rd floor to the 22nd floor of the office building with a standard floor area of approximately 2,900m2 will be leased. These floors may be leased flexibly, by floors divided by elevator banks or by partially divided space on a floor, depending on customers’ needs and purpose of use. Each floor has a ceiling height of 2,900 mm, designed to create spacious feeling, and 150mm raised floor for wiring and an advanced security system will be installed in addition. The office building will be complete with food and beverage outlets and other facilities and services of convenience and frequent use to office workers, providing comfortable and secure business environment for the tenants. Office space will be available from January 2012.

The hotel focuses on providing spacious facilities and the highest level of services, limiting the number of guest rooms to 290. In light of the hotel’s location in Marunouchi which is recognized as the center of Japan’s economics and finances and a place that dispatches new culture and information, the new hotel will be equipped with six restaurants and bars and 13 banquet and wedding reception halls to meet the various needs of corporate and individual customers. The Palace Hotel expects to celebrate its grand opening in the spring of 2012, as a hotel offering unsurpassed service of high quality and state of the art facilities while standing firmly on the foundation of rich experience and tradition of hospitality since its establishment in 1961.

By way of its new hotel/office complex facilities, Palace Hotel is committed to contributing to further vitalization and environmental improvement of the Otemachi-Marunouchi-Yurakucho areas in the years to come.
